The funeral of a young New York City police officer who was gunned down while on duty was packed out by thousands of fellow officers from across the US.
The heartbreaking farewell to Officer Brian Moore began as his coffin was carried by colleagues into the St James' Roman Catholic Church, in Seaford, Long Island.
Relatives of the talented cop wept as a procession passed through a packed crowd bearing his coffin as gunmen stood on guard atop a nearby van.
Snipers were also placed on the roof of a nearby elementary school at the tightly scrutinised event and a three-mile no-fly zone was imposed overhead.
Officer Moore, 25, died two days after he was shot in the head at point blank range in Queens on Saturday.
He and his partner were sat in a an unmarked police car and had stopped a man on suspicion of carrying a handgun when he turned and shot the officer.]]
