One Dead As Tornadoes Tear Through Texas

At least one person has been killed after a number of tornadoes ripped up homes as they tore through parts of Texas.

Authorities spoke of "considerable damage" in a sparsely populated farming and ranching area in the north of the state.
Eastland County Judge and emergency coordinator Rex Fields said officials were going from house to house to assess the destruction, but that heavy rainfall was hampering those efforts.
"There is a considerable amount of damage," he said.
"Homes have been lost."
Walter Fairbanks, fire chief in nearby Cisco, confirmed one person had died when the tornado touched down on Saturday afternoon.
Another tornado hit the town of Burkburnett, but the National Weather Service had cancelled tornado warnings in the counties still in its path as the weather system weakened on its way east towards Fort Worth.
