Disease Risk Sparks Urgent Aid Plea In Nepal

Serious outbreaks of cholera and dysentery could emerge in disaster-hit Nepal because of contaminated water and poor sanitation, UK aid agencies have warned.

More than 7,500 people have been confirmed dead and 10,000 injured in last month's earthquake.
Many homes were flattened and the number of fatalities continues to rise.
Charities are working to make sure families have better emergency shelter and sanitation and also access to drinking water as clean water supplies have been disrupted in many areas.
People are being forced to live and defecate in the open, and there have been reports of diarrhoea and chest infections.
A spokesman for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) said urgent action was needed now, before the rainy season that starts in June
