Shocking footage has been released of a dangerous driver caught speeding at 140mph with a six-year-old boy as his front-seat passenger.
Police had to chase the man for 10 miles and said when they finally caught up with him, the child was left "very shaken" by the hair raising experience.
Mert Tanay, 26, was filmed in his BMW 323 after he overtook officers in an unmarked police car at around 90mph.
His speed soon increased to 115mph as he weaved in and out of traffic on the M20 in Kent before slowing to 90mph and then hitting 140mph.
A court heard the 26 year-old failed to realise he had whizzed past a police car chasing another speeding vehicle on the M20 at Harrietsham, Kent.
When officers pulled Tanay over at Junction 9, at Ashford, they said his young front-seat passenger was left "very shaken" by the experience.
Tanay claimed he had been 'distracted' by thinking about his forthcoming wedding - six months away.
The incident happened at 10.30am on September 28 last year.
At Canterbury Crown Court, Tanay, of Enfield, north London, was banned from driving for three years and told to carry out 50 hours' unpaid work, after admitting dangerous driving.
Sergeant Chris Wade, of the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The speed and manner of Mert Tanay's driving in this case showed a complete disregard for the safety of other road users, not to mention that of his young passenger who looked very shaken by his experience.
"Tanay's actions on what is a busy motorway fell far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver."
