Thugs jailed for 'horror movie'-style bottle attack that sprayed blood across packed train

Three thugs have been jailed for a "horror movie"-style bottle attack that left blood sprayed across a packed train carriage.

Horrified passengers were praised by a judge for stepping in to prevent a "complete bloodbath" during the violent assault on the late night New Year's Eve service.
Birmingham Crown Court heard the London Midland train’s seats, carpets and walls were covered in blood after Mohammed Osman and Ishmail Mohammed lashed out at Dale Relton with a vodka bottle.
Judge, Recorder John Edwards, said Relton was smashed in the head with the bottle six times in “11 seconds of madness”.
He said all three had been involved in “gratuitous violence” on the Birmingham New Street to Northampton train on December 31, 2013.
The judge said: “It is depicted on CCTV and it makes horrific viewing.
“The train was busy and those who had the misfortune to witness the violence were effectively marooned.
“One or two individuals showed remarkable presence of mind and bravely intervened and prevented what could have been a complete bloodbath.”
Timothy Sapwell, prosecuting, said Relton had earlier been seen on a platform arguing with his girlfriend, reports the Birmingham Mail.
The pair got on the train and Relton then launched an unprovoked attack on Osman, punching him in the mouth before they scuffled between the seats.
Osman and Mohammed responded by launching a revenge attack with the bottle, the court heard.
