14-year-old girl's face pushed into broken glass in terrifying random attack

A girl of 14 had her face pushed into broken glass in a terrifying attack near a park.
The teenager was walking to meet a friend when the man pounced in Heaton Moor, Stockport.

He pushed her shoulder then shoved her to the ground and held her down. The youngster's face was cut by glass that was already on the ground.
The attacker whispered one word to her before walking away. The girl could not tell what he said to her.
The incident happened as she walked towards a footbridge over a railway line at the junction of Buckingham Road and Tatton Road North, near Heaton Moor Park, at 7.30pm on Sunday.
The victim's mother said: "She was at home and a friend of hers had left his jacket. She said she would meet him half way and take it to him, as he lives nearby.
"She had been gone less than five minutes when her friend phoned to say she had been attacked.
"She was walking down the road when a man wearing a hoody approached her. She got her phone out of her pocket so she didn't have to look at him.
"He pushed her on the shoulder, and she ignored him. Then he pushed her to the ground and held her on the floor.
"She said he held her head down. She tried to get up and he pushed her down again."
The girl remained still until the man walked away.
